If you desire to live independently with extra services that make life easier, the Personal Care residence at The Village at Kelly Drive is right for you. There are 84 accommodations in this family-like residence. You can choose from private accommodations and shared suites and are welcome to add your own personal touches. For every new Personal Care resident, we establish an individualized plan of care that empowers him or her to live as independently as possible. Our experienced, compassionate team members form strong bonds with residents and provide them with the utmost in personalized attention. Care centers around each individual's varying needs for assistance with bathing, grooming, medication management, health monitoring and other daily life activities. If ever needed, Skilled Care and Rehabilitation Services are available within our family of communities.

Why should I choose Personal Care at SpiriTrust Lutheran®, The Village at Kelly Drive?

One reason is the compassionate, person-centered care provided by our dedicated, longtime staff members. Another reason is that you will receive priority access to higher levels of care, such as Skilled Care and Rehabilitation Services, at all of our other communities, including The Village at Sprenkle Drive, which is located less than a mile away. Last, The Village at Kelly Drive is backed by SpiriTrust Lutheran®, a faith-based, not-for-profit provider that places people before profits. At SpiriTrust Lutheran®, we don’t just serve the community; we are committed to it. We believe that our role is to provide the foundation for the very best senior citizen housing by offering access to quality care, services and lifestyle options. It’s a responsibility we take to heart, and we are firmly committed to ensuring that community needs are met.

What’s the difference between Personal Care and Assisted Living?

Personal Care offers meals, living accommodations and personal assistance or supervision with activities of daily living, while Assisted Living provides the same services plus supplemental health care services.

Must I be a member of a Lutheran church to be accepted for admission?

No. Our mission to serve and care was born out of faith — faith that guides every decision we make concerning those who turn to us for care. That faith is what sets us apart. While our beliefs are rooted in Lutheran heritage, we recognize that faith is different for everyone. We warmly welcome those of differing faith journeys and life experiences at our faith-based community.

Do I have to be a resident of a SpiriTrust Lutheran® senior living community to be admitted to the Personal Care residence?

No; however, current residents have priority access to Personal Care.

Will I be able to order my meals from a menu? 

Yes. Our dining room operates like a restaurant, with service by wait staff, and seasonal weekly menus. Breakfast includes a variety of hot and cold selections. Two daily entrées, plus an expansive “anytime menu,” are available at both lunch and dinner. Outside of typical dining hours, a separate menu featuring a variety of items, such as delicious salads and sandwiches, is available. 

May I have guests? 

Yes. Family and friends are always welcome at our warm, friendly retirement community. They can join you anytime for meals as well as visits in your room, the lounges or outdoor areas. Pets are also permitted to visit. 

Is transportation provided?

Yes. We provide scheduled transportation to medical appointments, outings, shopping trips and more. There may be an additional charge for some transportation services.

May I use my own doctor? 

Residents continue to see their own physician and other medical providers in the greater community.

Can you accommodate my loved one for a short-term stay? 

Yes. We do offer respite care if a room is available. 

What steps do I need to take to become a resident of Personal Care?

Take these steps:

  1. Schedule an appointment with our retirement counselor.
  2. Complete an application for review.
  3. Obtain financial and medical approval. We will provide you with a medical evaluation form to take to your personal physician.
  4. Meet with our health services manager for a pre-admission assessment. The assessment is an opportunity for us to learn more about your preferences and discuss your personal service needs.

Will I attend an orientation at move-in?

Yes. We realize that transitioning to a Personal Care residence can be stressful. Our staff will meet with you to help you settle in and get to know our retirement community. They are also available on an ongoing basis to answer any questions. 

May I bring my own furniture?

Yes. We do provide furnished rooms, but encourage residents to personalize their suites. All personal furniture and furnishings you wish to bring should be reviewed with the health services manager prior to move in.

What happens if I need additional assistance in the future?

If ever needed, Skilled Care and Rehabilitation Services are available within our family of communities. SpiriTrust Lutheran® Home Care & Hospice can also provide additional services. 

Does Medicare cover some of the cost for Personal Care?

No. Medicare is your health insurance and does not cover Personal Care. Medicare frequently covers Skilled Care and Rehabilitation Services after certain criteria have been met. For more information about Medicare, contact the Social Security Administration at 800.772.1213.

If my funds deplete, will I be asked to leave?

No. As long as you meet the eligibility requirements at time of entrance, abide by the rules and regulations of SpiriTrust Lutheran®, have not unethically spent down your funds, and maintain your eligibility for Medicare and other third-party reimbursements, you will not be required to leave.

Are pets permitted?

Yes. Well-behaved pets are welcome to visit. Pets must be leashed and have current vaccinations. Any pet-related damage is the responsibility of the owner.

Is smoking permitted?

No. All of our senior living communities, including The Village at Kelly Drive, are smoke-free. It is our desire to offer a safe and healthy environment at all of our retirement communities.  

Do I need long-term care insurance to move to The Village at Kelly Drive?

While it’s not mandatory, long-term care insurance might help to cover the costs of Personal Care services. If you have long-term care insurance, please check the terms of your policy.
